Frequently Asked Questions

Our services are primarily focused on the exterior of your home, where most pest problems begin. In most cases, interior treatment is not necessary.

If an interior treatment is requested or needed, we ask that you remove loose items along baseboards—such as pet bowls, toys, and clothing—to allow our technician clear access.

Our products are designed to be family- and pet-friendly when used as directed. They are biodegradable, low-odor, and professionally applied by licensed and insured technicians. We use products registered with the EPA, and many of the active ingredients we use are derived from the chrysanthemum flower.

Before every regular treatment we will send you a text, phone call or email the week leading up (whatever your preferred method of contact). You will be sent another reminder the day before your service.

Pests are persistent—and often seasonal. You may think a single professional treatment will eliminate the problem for good. But a few weeks later, they’re back. That can leave you frustrated, questioning whether the service worked, and wondering if the problem will ever truly go away.

The reality is that effective pest control isn’t about reacting once you see pests. It’s about preventing them before they ever become a problem.

Year-round pest control works because it’s proactive. Instead of chasing outbreaks, it creates a consistent protective barrier around your home. Each property is different, which is why ongoing service is tailored to your specific environment and pest pressures—designed to solve the root of the issue, not just manage the symptoms.

Either once every two months (bi-monthly) or once every three months (quarterly).

No. Our service model is designed to focus primarily on the exterior of your home.

The vast majority of pest pressure originates outdoors. That’s where insects live, breed, and build population density before attempting to move inside. For that reason, we concentrate on creating a protective treatment barrier around your home and using targeted exterior baiting to reduce pest populations at the source. By lowering outside pressure, we prevent problems before they start.

Interior treatments are typically not necessary for routine service.

There are a few exceptions. Pests that reproduce indoors—such as fleas, pantry pests, and certain domestic cockroaches like German and brown-banded roaches—do require interior treatment. Ants may also need interior attention in specific cases, especially if they are nesting within wall voids. When that happens, we address the interior strategically and on a case-by-case basis.

Our goal is prevention, not reaction. By focusing on the exterior and controlling populations before they enter, we keep your home protected year-round with minimal product used inside.

We operate as a paperless company and accept credit card payments only.

Our office team will work with you over the phone to securely set up your payment method. Many of our customers choose to enroll in autopay because it’s convenient, secure, and ensures uninterrupted service. For your protection, once your card information is entered into our system, it is encrypted and we can only view the last four digits.

This streamlined, paperless process allows us to operate efficiently while reducing paper waste and administrative delays.

Avista’s Nuisance-Free Process guarantees all ants, spiders, wasps, roaches and more. The best part of the service is if you ever have any bug problems in between our regular treatments, we will come back and service your home for free.

Most of the products we use are water-based and designed to bond to surfaces once applied. It would take excessive, sustained rainfall to significantly impact their effectiveness.

In periods of heavy rain, we may adjust our approach by applying water-activated granules around the perimeter of your home and lawn to maintain consistent protection.

Your satisfaction is important to us. If you ever feel additional service is needed between scheduled visits, we’re happy to provide a complimentary re-service.

Actually, it’s quite common to see bugs after the first treatment. That’s completely normal, don’t be alarmed – it usually takes about 10 days for the product to cycle through. This increase in bug activity shows that the products are working: we are getting rid of them and disrupting their habitat. If the problem persists after about 10 days, just give us a call and we will get back out here to retreat your home at absolutely no additional charge.

We understand that circumstances may arise resulting in the need to cancel your service. If this happens, we are not going to charge you the rest of the balance on the contract. It’s simply $199 early termination fee. After your agreement period ends, you can cancel at any time, but like I said, most of our customers just stay on service for years and years because they love NOT seeing bugs and we treat our customers like family.

We would be happy to treat the yard and around your garden. It’s actually good because it will reduce pests that would hurt your fruit and vegetables. While the products are completely safe – company policy doesn’t allow us to treat the garden directly.

Some of the products we use are actually enhanced by moisture, making them especially effective during rainy periods.

Our technicians apply a targeted liquid treatment along the foundation, around windows, entry points, and under the eaves—areas where pests commonly enter or harbor. In addition, we apply water-activated granules extending outward from the foundation into the yard to establish a broader protective barrier around your home.

This combined approach creates layered protection that helps prevent future infestations.

It’s not uncommon to notice an increase in insect activity immediately after heavy rain. Rain can disturb nesting sites and soil-dwelling insects, temporarily driving them to the surface. When a preventative treatment is already in place, those pests encounter the barrier before they have the opportunity to move inside.

If you ever feel insect activity is abnormal during extended wet periods, we’re happy to provide a complimentary re-service to ensure your home remains protected.

As temperatures drop, pests that normally live outdoors begin searching for warmth and shelter. That’s why fall and winter are often referred to as “rodent season.” Areas like garages and attics—typically too hot for rodents during the summer—become prime harborage sites once the weather turns cold.

Rodents aren’t the only concern. Ants, spiders, earwigs, and other overwintering pests may also move closer to or inside the home during the colder months.

Our winter service strategy is specifically designed to address this seasonal shift. We concentrate treatments in the areas closest to the structure—where pests are nesting, reproducing, and preparing to overwinter. By targeting these zones, we reduce population pressure before activity spikes.

In fact, many professionals consider winter treatments some of the most important of the year. When temperatures begin to rise and pests emerge from their nesting sites, they encounter the protective barrier already in place—stopping them before they have the opportunity to multiply or move inside.
